


ArmInfo. A flower-laying ceremony was held in Yerevan to commemorate the 128th anniversary of Hovhannes (Ivan) Baghramyan, legendary military leader, Marshal, and twice Hero of the Soviet Union.
According to the Moscow Cultural and Business Center "Moscow House," the commemorative event was initiated by the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan. Representatives from the Russian and Belarusian embassies in Armenia, the Yerevan City Hall, the Border Department of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Republic of Armenia, the Moscow House in Yerevan, public and youth organizations, veterans, and members of the "Young Friends of Border Guards" movement participated in the ceremony. Those gathered emphasized the legendary military leader's significant role in achieving victories, from World War I to the Great Patriotic War. Simon Yesayan, Chairman of the Marshal Baghramyan Association of Armenian Veterans, noted in his speech that the marshal's name is forever inscribed in the history of military art. He invited everyone interested in the commander's life and military career to visit the Hovhannes Baghramyan Center and Museum, operating under the auspices of the Association of Armenian Veterans.
According to David Gevorgyan, Head of the Foreign Relations Department at the Yerevan City Hall, due to the selfless heroism of Baghramyan and other military personnel, the Armenian people made a significant contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. This year marks its 80th anniversary, celebrated by all progressive humanity.
