Bayramov: Azerbaijan, Armenia  currently going through most peaceful  and stable period in their bilateral relations

ArmInfo.Azerbaijan and Armenia are currently going through the most peaceful and stable period in their bilateral relations, as stated by Azerbaijani Foreign  Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in his speech at the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna.

According to Azerbaijani media, in order to give additional impetus  to the peace process, the parties are taking necessary steps to  implement specific measures in various areas - at governmental,  parliamentary, and civil society levels.

"Azerbaijan, as a gesture of goodwill, has unilaterally lifted  restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia.  These developments  clearly demonstrate that direct bilateral negotiations are the best  path forward a position that Azerbaijan has advocated for  many  years. Our country, as the initiator of the peace agenda, remains  committed to this path and expects mutual political will and  responsibility from Armenia," Bayramov said.

He highlighted significant progress in post-conflict normalization  since last December between Baku and Yerevan, culminating in the  "historic peace summit in Washington on August 8."

"The summit resulted in a joint declaration by the leaders of  Azerbaijan and Armenia, signed in the presence of US President Donald  Trump, affirming that the conflict belongs to the past and can not   be subject to revision, and committing both sides to building  good-neighborly relations," he noted. 

Bayramov also thanked Finland, as the OSCE's chair, the Secretariat,   member states, and the Ministerial Council for swift deciding to  close the Minsk Process. The Foreign Minister added that peace has  now been "de facto  established in a previously unstable OSCE  region."

The Minister also assured that the timely implementation of the Trump  Route Project (TRIPP) is of paramount importance for the South  Caucasus region. He emphasized that this multimodal route will  include a railway, a highway, and other communications.

"TRIPP should ensure unimpeded communication between the mainland of  Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and also bring  benefits to Armenia. As has been repeatedly stated, the importance of  opening communications (in the region - ed.) is not limited to  ensuring sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but  entails significant benefits on a much larger scale," the Azerbaijani  Foreign Minister said.
