ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has prepared a "roadmap" for the restoration of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church (AAC) after the removal of Ktrich Nersisyan (Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II).
The roadmap consists of three points: 1. Election of a locum tenens of the Catholicosate in accordance with the logic of the mechanisms operating in the Armenian Apostolic Church. 2. Adoption of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church Statute, which should encompass: a) the rules of moral conduct for the clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and guarantees for their implementation,
b) financial transparency of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and guarantees for its implementation, c) the necessity for the apolitical nature of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and guarantees for its implementation, d) compliance of the activities of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church with the tax legislation of the Republic of Armenia and guarantees for their implementation. The legislation of the Republic of Armenia, as noted, will, in turn, provide guarantees for the full refund to the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church of taxes and fees received from the activities of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and paid to the state budget,
d) social guarantees for clergy and guarantees for their ensuring, so that clergy have the opportunity to fully benefit from the funded pension system, income tax refunds, social loans, and universal health insurance. Currently, the Prime Minister emphasized, clergy generally do not benefit from these systems due to not having a fixed remuneration system. 3. Election of the Catholicos of All Armenians in accordance with the new Statue.
"P.S. The Statue is discussed and adopted by the church body authorized to do so. If the Locum Tenens mediates, the Government will provide advisory support for the work on drafting of the Statue," Pashinyan concluded.
