Armenia unilaterally gave Azerbaijan everything without receiving  anything in return - Edmon Marukyan

ArmInfo.  It turns out that even after August 8, the issue of "Western Azerbaijan" is not closed. Former Ambassador-at-Large and leader of the Bright Armenia Party,  Edmon Marukyan, stated this in a video.

The politician recalled that immediately after the agreements reached  in Washington on August 8, voices began to be heard in Yerevan  claiming that the issue of "Western Azerbaijan" was closed and peace  had arrived. However, the politician continued, yesterday, Armenian  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan offered Azerbaijan a roadmap according  to which both sides commit to not raising questions about the return  of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh and the abandonment of the term  "Western Azerbaijan." According to Marukyan, the prime minister  representing the country, he again misunderstands what he is saying,  since the issue of "Western Azerbaijan" is entirely different. "He  doesn't understand that the issue of the return of Armenians to  Artsakh has nothing to do with the false narrative of 'Western  Azerbaijan.' Even in Soviet times, the Armenians of Artsakh enjoyed  autonomy with full institutional rights. 'Western Azerbaijanis' in  Armenia had no autonomy whatsoever," Marukyan noted.

He added that failure to understand this fact could lead to a new war  and new casualties. Pashinyan, the politician noted, could provoke a  new conflict with his statements like these. "One fact is surprising:  when the Armenian-Azerbaijani agreement was initialed, why wasn't  this issue raised? Immediately after its signing, they fed us the lie  that peace had arrived, but now, as it turns out, peace is still a  long way off," the politician noted. In essence, he said, Armenia  unilaterally gave Azerbaijan everything without receiving anything.
