Baku actively and illegally appropriating Armenian population`s  property, with Stepanakert as primary target - Geghard Foundation 

ArmInfo. Azerbaijan has turned the number 44 into a "symbol of national pride" and continues to present itself to foreign audiences with a false "peace agenda,"  considering every day of war "glorious history." This was stated in a  statement by the Geghard Research Foundation.

According to the statement, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and  First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the so-called  "Victory Park" in occupied Stepanakert. "Baku continues its  anti-Armenian policy among its own population at the highest,  presidential level. The process of erasing the Armenian face and  traces of Artsakh is once again confirmed by the Victory Park. This  belligerent event, with its emphasis on military might after the  44-day war of 2020, anti-Armenian propaganda, President Ilham  Aliyev's bellicose rhetoric, and the increase in military spending to  $5 billion, in fact does not indicate a readiness for a peace agenda,  but, on the contrary, is aimed at strengthening anti-Armenian  sentiment.  Azerbaijan has turned the number 44 into a symbol of  national pride and continues to present itself to foreign audiences  with a false peace agenda, considering every day of war a glorious  history," the statement reads.

What exactly is this park, founded in Stepanakert? According to the  foundation, it is a 44-meter triumphal arch, symbolizing the number  of days of the 44-day Artsakh War. It consists of 10 floors and a  platform with the Victory Day symbol and the eternity sign. The ninth  floor houses the Victory Gallery. The 44 steps leading from the park  entrance to the Triumphal Arch, along with inscriptions on memorial  plaques installed in the central section, supposedly recount the  course of the 2020 war. "Having chosen Stepanakert as its primary  target, Baku is actively and illegally appropriating the property and  apartments of the Armenian population, carrying out the  Azerbaijanization of the city, attempting to eliminate not only  Armenian monuments and sites but also the symbols of Artsakh  statehood, demonstratively destroying them. The process adopted by  Azerbaijan in Artsakh is aimed at "cleansing" the Armenian legacy and  presenting it as "Azerbaijani." Baku's Armenophobic and intolerant  attitude toward Armenians, carried out at the highest level of  government and under the control of the Aliyev dictatorship, is a  fact," the statement notes.
