The US Senate has issued a stern warning to Trump

ArmInfo. On Thursday, the US Senate delivered one of the president's sternest warnings yet when five Republicans helped push through a measure limiting Trump's military actions abroad. The outraged president declared on social media that he "should never be elected again," POLITICO reported.

The measure now heads to a final vote in the Senate next week. But it still needs to pass the House, which could prove more difficult. Judging by Thursday's failed veto override votes, House Republicans are less inclined to break ties with the administration than their Senate counterparts.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) told POLITICO that he was "leaning" to support the war powers resolution after this week's briefings on the Venezuela operation, but that Trump's attack on Thursday marked a turning point.
