Armenia handed over citizens sentenced to life imprisonment to Syria

ArmInfo.  Syrian citizens, who were sentenced to life imprisonment in Armenia, have been transferred to Syria via Turkey, the RA Ministry of Justice reports.

"On January 14, 2026, citizens of the Syrian Arab Republic, Yousef  Alaabet al-Hajji and Mukhrab Muhammad al-Shkhari, sentenced to life  imprisonment in the Republic of Armenia, were transferred via the  Republic of Turkey to the competent authorities of the Syrian Arab  Republic to serve their sentences in their country of citizenship.

The transfer was carried out in cooperation with the relevant  competent authorities and in accordance with established legal  procedures," the statement reads.
