ArmInfo. All 27 EU member states, including Hungary, have approved the allocation of 20 million euros to Armenia from the European Peace Facility. The decision was made today, RFE/RL sources in Brussels report.
While Armenia submitted its request for assistance last year, the proposal was initially stalled by Hungary. Budapest had previously conditioned its support on a reciprocal aid package for Azerbaijan. However, following a series of diplomatic negotiations and behind-the-scenes talks, Hungary withdrew its objections, paving the way for the unanimous vote.
"This is the second time Armenia has secured support from the European Fund. The first package was provided in July 2024, in the amount of 10 million euros. This time, the amount has been doubled, with the priority being strengthening Armenia's armed forces and defense capabilities through the provision of logistical and medical equipment, as well as necessary technical training. The funds are intended for the next 35 months," Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's European Service reported.
