ArmInfo. During the 2026 International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington, D.C., attorney Aram Vardevanyan spoke to leaders of religious organizations about the Armenian government's persecution of members of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). This was reported in a Facebook post by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
"The fate of ethnically cleansed Christian Armenian refugees - and Azerbaijan's desecration of the holy sites they were forced to leave behind; the urgency of returning Armenian Christian hostages still being illegally held in Baku, and; the moral imperative for American and international leadership in ending the Pashinyan government's mass arrests and escalating persecution of Armenian Apostolic bishops and benefactors, among them Samvel Karapetyan, all took center stage in Washington, DC today at the 2026 International Religious Freedom Summit IRF Summit - during attorney Aram Vardevanyan's keynote address before the world's premier gathering of global faith leaders," ANCA's statement reads.
