


ArmInfo. Deputy Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia Nune Hovhannisyan received OSCE/ODIHR experts Ayla van Heel Merdanovich, Dinara Dildabekova, and Laura Simonyan, who arrived in Yerevan to conduct a national gender policy assessment.
According to the press service of the Central Election Commission of Armenia, Hovhannisyan welcomed the guests to Yerevan, expressing her willingness to cooperate further.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Central Election Commission spoke about an amendment to the Constitutional Law on the Electoral Code, introduced in 2024, according to which female representatives who withdraw their candidacies must be replaced exclusively by persons of the specified gender, otherwise the mandate is considered vacant.
Hovhannisyan also presented some statistics regarding the presence of women on the Central Election Commission. Specifically, according to her, four of the seven members of the Central Election Commission are women, as are 44 of the 66 employees. The Ethics Committee also played a key role in changing the gender balance on ethics committees from the previous ratio of 5:2 to 4:3.
