ArmInfo. On February 6, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov and presented him with a note of protest, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
According to Azerbaijani media, during the meeting, the Azerbaijani side expressed strong protest over the February 5 statement by Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots, regarding the conviction of citizens of the Republic of Armenia in Azerbaijan. An official note was presented to the Russian side regarding this.
"The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized that Zatulin has long opposed the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, openly supports separatism, and attempts to distort court decisions against Armenian citizens found guilty of crimes against peace and humanity, as well as war crimes during Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan. The Foreign Ministry called such statements unacceptable.
Azerbaijan called on Russia to take measures to stop actions similar to Zatulin's, noting that they are detrimental to regional stability and Azerbaijani-Russian relations," 1news.az writes.
