
ArmInfo. US Vice President J.D. Vance's visit to Armenia is of historic and symbolic significance, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a briefing following talks with the American official.
The Armenian Prime Minister emphasized that it is a great honor for him to host the US Vice President and his delegation on an official visit to Armenia. "This visit is truly historic and symbolic. This is the first visit by a US Vice President to the Republic of Armenia. It is taking place during a period of unprecedented change in the South Caucasus and reflects the depth of the strong and strategic partnership formed between the Republic of Armenia and the United States," the head of the Armenian government stated.
Pashinyan recalled that his first meeting with Vance on February 7, 2025, was of great significance for subsequent developments, serving as a starting point for deepening bilateral relations. The Armenian Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump and the US Vice President for organizing the Washington Peace Summit on August 8, 2025. "Thanks to this summit, we gave a serious boost to Armenian-American relations, and thanks to President Trump's participation, peace was established between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the Armenian Prime Minister emphasized. Pashinyan further recalled that following the Washington summit, he and the Azerbaijani President jointly nominated the US President for the Nobel Peace Prize, expressing hope that he would be awarded the prize in 2026.
The Armenian Prime Minister also emphasized that Vance's visit is key to the further institutionalization of peace and the expansion of strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States. Pashinyan reported that he briefed Vance on the current positive developments in the South Caucasus, as well as details of his meeting with the Azerbaijani President in Abu Dhabi, aimed at taking new steps to establish peace between Yerevan and Baku.
