


ArmInfo. Staff of the Defense Attache's Office at the Russian Embassy congratulated Mekhak Tigranovich Avetisyan, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War living in Armenia, on his 104th birthday and conveyed to him a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, during the Great Patriotic War, Mekhak Tigranovich defended Pskov and fought near Staraya Russa on the Northwestern Front as part of the 242nd Separate Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. Later, as part of the 2nd Baltic Front, he liberated Latvia, where he celebrated the Victory over Nazi Germany. In August-September 1945, he participated in the liberation of northeastern China from Japanese militarists. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd Class, the Red Star, the Red Banner of Labor, and numerous medals.
"We wish Mekhak Tigranovich good health, prosperity, and high spirits!" the Russian Embassy in Armenia stated in a statement.
