ArmInfo. The Russian Film Festival, which will take place from February 20 to 22, has officially launched in Yerevan.
As reported by an ArmInfo correspondent, at the opening ceremony, Dmitry Litskai, Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, expressed his gratitude to the organizers, the Russian Ministry of Culture, and all those in attendance.
"Thank you to everyone who shares this celebration with us. I am confident that this will be a valuable contribution to the cultural cooperation between our countries. The core value of contemporary Russian cinema is that it is very relatable and understandable to our Armenian friends and viewers, as we speak a common cultural language. I am confident that all the films will leave a positive impression," Litskai noted. Roskino Deputy General Director Oksana Frolova emphasized that the festival is more than just film screenings, but a vibrant dialogue between nations that has been taking place through art for many years. "Following a good tradition, we present striking examples of contemporary Russian cinema. The festival program features five unique films," Frolova said.
The Russian Film Festival program includes "Buratino," an interpretation of Alexei Tolstoy's famous fairy tale; "Hello to My Husband," a comedy melodrama about a complex relationship on the path to happiness; "First on Olympus," a life-affirming sports drama about the rise of Olympic champion Yuri Tyukalov; "Doctor Dinosaur," an animated film about the adventures of schoolboy Phil Dinosaur; and "The North Pole," an adventure film about the triumph of the human spirit and technology, telling the story of how a nuclear submarine became the first in history to reach the North Pole by passing under thick pack ice. The festival is organized by Roskino with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture. Free screenings will be held at the Moscow cinema.
