ArmInfo. Archbishop Sahak Mashalian of Constantinople has suggested the establishment of a synodal structure to address issues related to Church- State relations.
In his address to the participants of the Episcopal Assembly, the Archbishop noted that some bishops, as well as Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, were unable to participate in the assembly. Mashalian emphasized that the Supreme Spiritual Council has discredited itself, and for this reason, there is a need to create a synodal structure that would include some opposition clergy as well. The Archbishop expressed hope that the synodal structure would pave the way for finding solutions with the Armenian authorities, viewing this structure as a transitional solution. Additionally, Mashalian suggested setting a specific date for the convening of the National Church Council.
