ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities are interested in weakening the current regime in Iran. Political strategist Vigen Hakobyan expressed this viewpoint in an interview with an ArmInfo correspondent.
When asked about the idea of the end of a multipolar world, the political strategist noted that the truth is somewhere in the middle. At least some progress toward a multipolar world and the struggle for this world are still taking place. Hakobyan noted that the United States is guided by the "America First" approach and, based on its strategy, considers China its main competitor and rival. The developments in Venezuela, the main supplier of cheap oil to China, are a clear confirmation of this. Now it's Iran's turn, which, like Venezuela, supplied oil to China at a significantly lower price than the global market. Therefore,, as the political scientist emphasized, Washington is seeking to deprive Beijing of cheap energy resources, attempting to inflict maximum damage.
Against this backdrop, Russia is taking some steps, but its resources and capabilities are currently insufficient to counter the ongoing global processes. At present, it is difficult to consider Russia a self- sufficient state capable of influencing these processes.
Speaking about Armenia's stance in this challenging situation, the political strategist pointed out that the interests of the Armenian state should not be confused with those of the authorities, for whom reproduction is the top priority today. Official Yerevan will constantly be under the influence of forces that declare their support for the current Armenian government, be it Turkey, the European Union, or anyone else. Against this backdrop, the belated condolences to Tehran over the death of Iran's leadership should be taken calmly. It's also important to take into consideration Iran's position on the "Trump Route" (TRIPP), which categorically opposes the construction of this corridor. For this and several other reasons, one can conclude that official Yerevan favors reducing the Iranian factor in the region, while simultaneously strengthening Turkey's position. "Pashinyan's (RA Prime Minister - ed.) government is completely under the control of external forces, as evidenced by its more than restrained reaction to the developments in the region.
