ArmInfo. The court's decision to unlawfully extend Samvel Karapetyan's house arrest for another month is inconsistent with both the law and justice and will be appealed in the near future, as stated by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan on his Facebook page.
"During the court hearing, I even referred to the public statement of the head of the executive branch and asked the court to explicitly record the possibility of publishing video messages or conducting live broadcasts on Facebook. The Court's position is that all officials who claimed that Samvel Karapetyan could publish video appeals without restrictions, were, frankly, lying. Unfortunately, such behavior is nothing new," he wrote. The court ruled that the authority granting permission on this matter is the investigatoe-the same investigator who, according to Vardevanyan, had previously rejected their appeals. He noted that he would resubmit his petition to the investigator tomorrow.
The lawyer emphasized that such manipulations serve only one purpose: to intensify political persecution, and nothing else. "I would like to inform you that the Probation Service has still not provided me with its position regarding Samvel Karapetyan's right to publish video appeals.
Incidentally, the prosecutor's office has the exclusive authority to revoke the pretrial detention measure imposed by the court and, moreover, to put an end to this illegal political persecution. The law must prevail. Freedom for all political prisoners," Vardevanyan wrote.
