ArmInfo. The Rieger-Kloss organ, installed in 1970 in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, will be restored. At its meeting on May 27, the RA government decided to allocate 242 million drams for this purpose in 2026.
As noted in the rationale for the draft decision, the organ has long been in need of restoration. To ensure the continued use of the organ and the restoration work, the concert hall's management has approached leading and internationally renowned specialized companies with a proposal to carry out the restoration work. Following negotiations and professional discussions, this important project was entrusted to the prestigious Austrian company Rieger-Orgelbau GmbH, which presented a project cost estimate of 346 million drams, equivalent to 768,000 euros. This amount does not include customs clearance of imported goods, travel expenses and accommodation for specialists, income tax, VAT, a 4% price indexation, and a 10% contingency.
The organ will be dismantled and stored in July-August 2026, technical installation in January-February 2027, and general tuning in July-August 2027. Completion of the organ restoration is scheduled for September 2027. The total budget for the restoration project is 588,400,000 drams, of which 242 million drams will be allocated in 2026. The project will restore the organ's full sound.
