ArmInfo.Azerbaijani political observer Azad Isazadeh has announced Azerbaijan's intention to interfere in Armenia's June 7 parliamentary elections to restore Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's power. Azerbaijani expert Tatevik Hayrapetyan has made this announcement on her Facebook page.
According to her, Isazadeh has repeatedly stated that it is important for Azerbaijan that Pashinyan remain in power. "But now he's going further, saying they could physically interfere in Armenia's June elections by introducing so-called 'Azerbaijani peacekeepers' to protect the Armenian prime minister. The fact that the enemy can even entertain such a thought is a result of the 'sovereign' policies of 'poor' Pashinyan," Hayrapetyan believes.
In light of the above, she called on Armenian citizens to prevent this by participating in the parliamentary elections. "To ensure that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's candidate does not remain in power, and that they can no longer interfere in Armenia's domestic political life, we need to go to the polls on June 7," the expert concluded.
It's worth noting that in the lead-up to Armenia's June elections, the US and EU expressed open support for current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, thereby openly interfering in Armenia's internal processes.
Moreover, the EU not only supports the current government but is also attempting to create the illusion that Russia is carrying out a hybrid threat against Armenia. Moreover, the EU even dispatched a mission to assist Armenia in "preventing external interference in the run-up to the next parliamentary elections." However, independent experts are inclined to believe that in practice, this assistance will become a tool for limiting narratives politically undesirable for the government, rather than combating false information.
It should be added that, amid pressure exerted on political forces in Armenia by the current authorities, the Russian president, during a meeting with the Armenian prime minister, called on the Armenian authorities not to hinder the participation of pro-Russian forces in the elections, in accordance with the democratic values proclaimed by the velvet government.
