TUMO Center for Creative Technologies marks its 15-th anniversary

ArmInfo.The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies has celebrated its 15th anniversary. 

TUMO was founded in 2001 by American-Armenian entrepreneur Sam  Simonian and his wife, Sylva. It's educational concept was developed  by Marie Lou Papazian—who serves as its founding CEO—alongside the  project team. Now, TUMO is operating with 25 centers across 15  countries, and reaching tens of thousands of students.

According to a statement from the EU Mission to Armenia, TUMO's  educational model has been recognized and supported by the European  Union for its strategic support to STEM  and creative- technology  education in Armenia and beyond. 

Earlier this year, it was announced that the EU had allocated a  EUR  12.5 million grant to establish the EU- TUMO Convergence Center for  Englineering and Applied School Complex (EUCC). The EU is also  supporting the Gyumri  Market Revitalization and Culinary School  initiative, and continues its engagement with TUMO in Kapan.

"Through these initiatives, we reaffirm our determination to promote  programs that strengthen links between education, local communities,  and industry. We wish TUMO many more years of bold innovation,  growing impact and even stronger international partnerships," the  source stated.

Note, spanning 18,000 square meters, the complex was designed by the  world-renowned architectural firm MVRDV. It will house TUMO  Labs—featuring educational, engineering, and incubation  programs—along with 42 Yerevan (the local branch of the French  programming school), research and applied laboratories, collaborative  co-working and co-financing platforms, a conference center, and  commercial spaces. The total cost of the program is  EUR 42.5  million, of which 12.5 million is provided by the aforementioned EU  grant.
