RA NA may be political stage, but it not theater 

ArmInfo.  The opposition must be an independent political entity with its own political program,  creating political results and bearing responsibility for them. This  is what former RA Justice Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan writes,  commenting on the parliamentary opposition's performance in  2021-2026.

According to the former minister, during this period, the opposition  addressed 384 oral questions to the authorities and almost as many  speeches, submitted 53 legislative initiatives, four draft  resolutions, 13 draft statements, and one statement. 162 business  trips were made, including with MPs from the ruling party, and over  600 million drams were received in bonuses: 488,086,470 drams from  the "Armenia" bloc and 107,440,920 drams from the "I Have the Honor"  bloc. One MP from each opposition bloc left their faction, became  independent MPs, and then de facto supported the government. The  opposition occupied four leadership positions reserved for it by law  (one deputy speaker of the National Assembly and three chairs of  standing committees), one of whom was dismissed by the government  itself, and the other two resigned in 2022. Their last post was  Chairman of the RA National Assembly Committee on Human Rights and  Public Affairs.

"Has the opposition's parliamentary activity become an effective tool  in the fight against the government?  Perhaps not. Nikol Pashinyan  has been prime minister for nine years now. This fact alone  constitutes a political assessment of the opposition's performance  over the past five years and a guide to what should not be done and  what should not be repeated. Therefore, we state that the opposition  should not be a bystander to the government's actions and mistakes.  It should be an independent political entity with its own political  program, creating political results and bearing responsibility for  those results. We will no longer evaluate the opposition with  applause, pathos, loud statements, or 'powerful speeches.' Politics  is judged not by impressions, but by results. Parliament may be a  political stage, but it is not a theater. Of course, except when the  entire body of state and political figures deviates from their stated  goal. In other words, every step of the parliamentary opposition in  2026-2031 should be assessed by one criterion: how far has it brought  them closer to their stated political goal?" - Arpine Hovhannisyan  noted.
