Armenia elected Vice-Chair of UNESCO World Heritage Committee`s 49th session 

ArmInfo. Armenia has been elected Vice-Chair of the 49th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which will be held in Istanbul in June 2027, as reported by the press service of the Permanent Delegation of Armenia to UNESCO.

It is noted that this decision was announced during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held in Busan from July 19 to 29. The Armenian delegation, a member of the Committee, was led by Aram Hakobyan, Permanent Delegate of Armenia to UNESCO.

During the session, the Armenian delegation participated in discussions on a number of substantive agenda items, contributing to the inscription of new cultural and natural properties on the UNESCO World Heritage List and to the adoption of decisions on the state of conservation of listed sites.  A total of 25 new cultural and natural properties were inscribed on the World Heritage List during the session.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Armenia’s Permanent Delegate took part in an event dedicated to the Global Biodiversity Framework, where he presented the priorities of Armenia’s presidency of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be held in Yerevan in October.
