ArmInfo. Switzerland welcomes the positive momentum created by the initialing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Swiss Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ignazio Cassis stated this at a press conference in Yerevan following talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
He noted that during the meeting with Mirzoyan, the situation in the South Caucasus and the peace process between Yerevan and Baku were discussed.
"Switzerland welcomes the positive momentum created by the initialing of the peace agreement, which has ensured de facto peace on earth. This is a proven success that is important not only for Armenia and Azerbaijan, but for the entire South Caucasus." "Indeed, there are still unresolved issues, including those of a humanitarian nature, and we also addressed them today," Cassis said.
The official added that Switzerland encourages Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue the process of normalizing relations. "Switzerland wishes to facilitate this process if Yerevan and Baku so desire, given our experience in dialogue and peacebuilding," the OSCE Chairman-in-Office said.
