ArmInfo. The 22nd Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Yerevan will mark the 100th anniversary of the great masters of Armenian cinema - film and theater director, screenwriter, teacher Henrikh Malyan and film director, screenwriter and writer Aghasi Ayvazyan. This was announced during a press conference by the director and artistic director of the Golden Apricot Karen Avetisyan.
He noted that in preparation for the anniversary, the initiators were looking for a symbolic point of contact between these great masters of cinema. And it is obvious that this point was the film "Triangle" (1967), where Malyan acted as director and Ayvazyan as screenwriter.
The main part of the filming of the drama took place outside Yerevan (in Gyumri - ed.), the head of the film festival noted that one location was used in the capital for the filming of one episode - the Red Bridge (Karmir Kamurj). It is there that a special evening will be held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the two pillars of Armenian cinema, where guests will be presented a musical performance inspired by the film "Triangle". Avetisyan said that the bridge was restored (from 2023 to 2025) with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and the Yerevan Municipality as part of a joint initiative. It should be noted that this year the Golden Apricot Film Festival will be held in Yerevan from July 13 to 20. The film screening venues will be the Moscow Cinema and the Cinema House. The guests of honor included Iranian director, screenwriter, photographer Amir Naderi, Mauritanian director, winner of the Cannes Film Festival, Cesar Award (French National Film Award) Abderrahmane Sissako, festival figure, one of the most influential figures in world cinema Marco Muller, Hollywood actor of Armenian descent Karen Karagulian and others.
The film festival will open on July 13 at the Cinema House with a new film by the legendary Iranian director Jafar Panahi, "Simple Accident", which was awarded the "Golden Palm" at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
The closing will be marked by the screening of the film by the co-founder of the "Golden Apricot", the outstanding Armenian director Harutyun Khachatryan "The Last Station" (1994).
