ArmInfo.  The authorities' talk about the nationalization of Electric Networks of Armenia is just a political narrative to appease the electorate, as stated by e former acting deputy executive director of ENA David Ghazinyan at a press  conference on August 27.

"We do not have nationalization, state participation. What kind of  nationalization can we talk about if one of the ministers states that  Samvel Karapetyan will be provided with compensation, that is, he is  obliged to pay the market value plus 15%. This means that the  government, having the preemptive right to purchase, is simply buying  from the owner," Ghazinyan said.  According to him, there is no law  on nationalization in Armenia, and there cannot be, since it is very  risky.  And in those countries where it exists, there are serious  problems with investments.  He clarifies that it turns out that  several hundred million dollars will have to be paid to the owner by  taxpayers from their own pockets. The debt burden will increase  exactly by that amount, since, in all likelihood, the loan will be  taken under state guarantees. Additionally, the owner will be  required to pay dividends amounting to several tens of billions of  drams.
