ArmInfo. The unresolved challenges of the past, current threats, and future uncertainty remind about the indispensability of multilateralism with the United Nations at its core, as stated by Zhirayr Ananyan, Deputy Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, during his speech at the UN Security Council Open Debate "Leadership for Peace," held under the Slovenian Presidency on December 15, 2025.
The Deputy Permanent Representative of Armenia emphasized that, amid geopolitical turbulence and alarming polarization, the United Nations is more than ever relevant to lead the international efforts to prevent conflicts, solidify the global peace and security architecture, promote sustainable development, and uphold human rights and dignity. Presenting the latest regional developments, it was emphasized that the Armenian side expects the 10th UN Secretary-General to consistently support the efforts to maintain and reinforce peace in the South Caucasus region, based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and International law, in particular, the sovereign equality and territorial integrity of states.
