ArmInfo. On February 8, representatives of the Armenian community in Georgia held a rally in Tbilisi in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church amid the anti- church campaign unleashed by the Armenian authorities, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to media reports, the rally aimed to draw the international community's attention to the events surrounding the Armenian Apostolic Church and to demonstrate solidarity with the Armenian Church. Protesters expressed concern about the anti-church campaign, noting that the Armenian Apostolic Church is a key pillar in the preservation of Armenian identity.
Similar rallies had previously taken place in several Russian cities, including Moscow, in front of the Armenian Embassy during the visit of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament to the Russian capital. It should be noted that since May 2025, the Armenian authorities have been actively pursuing an anti-church policy and are seeking the resignation of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, who is elected to this position for life. This campaign has targeted both clergy and citizens who support the Church. Currently, four high-ranking clergy are imprisoned on trumped-up charges as part of this anti-church campaign. Furthermore, the Armenian prime minister and 10 schismatic bishops signed a framework document on the so-called renewal of the Armenian Church.
