ArmInfo. Protesters marched in Washington and New York City to protest the US and Israeli military strikes against Iran on February 28.
A live broadcast from USA Today showed protesters marching through the streets of downtown Washington. Some held flags of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Palestine. One large banner read, "Remember Iraq," a reference to the eight-year US war in the Middle Eastern country neighboring Iran.
In New York City, protesters marched through midtown Manhattan, including Times Square.
In a statement earlier Saturday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a critic of US and Israeli policies in the Middle East, called the military strikes against Iran "a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression."
"Americans don't want this," Mamdani said. "They don't want another war for regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace."
