ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continues to intimidate Armenian citizens by threatening war and casualties if they don't agree to everything he proposes. Russian State Duma Deputy Konstantin Zatulin expressed this opinion in an interview with Lenta.ru.
The day before, Pashinyan stated that if the opposition wins the country's elections, war will be inevitable, as they will revise the peace he brought. He also expressed confidence that calls for a revision of the peace are being written by foreign forces, and that the domestic opposition is merely reading them. "He has intimidated Armenians and that part of the population that doesn't want any upheaval. This line of Pashinyan's is still so clearly evident today because he has surrendered Armenia's national interests and continues to do so. He has no other way to hold on to power than by intimidating the population with war with Azerbaijan, complications with Turkey, and so on," the parliamentarian said.
According to Zatulin, this is precisely the strategy Pashinyan is using to hold on to power in the June 7 elections. He also emphasized that war is unlikely because Armenia enjoys protection under the CSTO treaty, primarily from Russia. "This is precisely what Pashinyan is trying to hide, having betrayed the alliance and is pursuing a path of compromise with neighbors who make no secret of their aggressive and belligerent intentions," the Russian MP emphasized.
